Janicki Industries specializes in manufacturing 5-axis milled patterns, molds, plugs and tooling for the aerospace, marine and transportation industries. The company, which was already one of Boeing's major tooling suppliers, had to build a new facility to house one of the world's largest 5-axis milling machines, three cranes and an office for Boeing's 787 program-- all in less than seven months.
Knowing Fisher & Sons' reputation, Janicki hired the firm to meet their tight deadlines and tight specifications.
Construction included two parallel 3-foot wide, 90-foot long concrete walls, complete with electrical and mechanical systems and glassed-in viewing areas, on which the milling machine is mounted. Design was done 'on-the-fly', with changes occuring daily, including the addition of a control room and revisions to the elevation drawings, its state-of-the-art ventilation and dust control systems and fiber optics network. Fisher worked closely with Janicki to accomodate the special requirements. Within seven months of the building was built and in full operation-- in time for Janicki to be awarded the Boeing contract.
