Simplot has a culture of innovation dating back to its founder J. R. Simplot. That culture continues at Simplot’s Technical Center in Caldwell, Idaho where employees develop new potato products to lead market demand--products such as French fries with 0 trans fat and all-natural hash browns.
Fisher & Sons recently broke ground on a three building addition to the Technical Center. The buildings will house raw material receiving, ready-to-eat processing and packaging and a pumping station that will collect the Pilot Plant process waste water and direct it to the process waste facility on site.
When complete, the facility will be a microcosm of a full-sized processing plant with climate-controlled USDA inspected sanitary spaces. Designed by Fisher’s in-house design team—FSI Architects, the project is expected to be operational in June of 2014.
