Construction is progressing on the new Henningsen / NORPAC facility in Salem, Oregon. The two companies announced in April that they would move forward, working with Fisher & Sons’ design/build team to accomplish the joint venture project.
Fisher & Sons began installing the foundations in late August for the 269,621 sf facility which will tie into Henningsen’s existing cold storage/distribution facility. Henningsen’s facility offices and NORPAC’s new corporate headquarters will be built on the northeastern end of the complex.
Located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the project's funding was aided with tax incentives provided to businesses located in the area’s “enterprise zone" and providing job growth.
The new facility will store processed frozen food products and have 28 loading docks. Along with the cold storage addition, NorPac will relocate their corporate offices to the new facility, bringing both their sales and corporate management under one roof.
The facility will be built of multiple materials, using energy efficient insulated metal panel walls, or IMPs on the freezer. The office will be built with CMU blocks and storefront windows which will extend the length of the building’s two story entry on the east side.
Fisher & Sons expects the facility to be operational in mid-2014.
