Fisher Companies marks its start in the 1950s when Bob Fisher joined forces with Harry Gunderson to form Fisher/Riesdorf Construction. In 1975 Fisher formed his own company with his son Jerome as J.R.F. Construction. The company name was later changed to Fisher & Sons when Bob's second son joined the company.
John Bustad, an icon in the construction industry, joined with the Fishers in the late 1970's, merging his business with theirs. John brought with him extensive experience in food processing and cold storage construction.
As construction business developed in the food processing sector, the need for fast track projects became apparent. This need fostered the development of a true design/build project system: a company where architects, engineers and project managers work together under one roof to meet customer needs.
Looking to the future, the long-term continuity of our business as a privately held, employee-owned construction company required the transition from a family-owned business to employee owned. This began in 1996 when the company introduced company shareholders. Today the company has 22 shareholders and is managed by a board of directors.
